SKINS (2021)
tactile installation, mixed media, 500x400x450cm
Installation composed of six large suspended objects, each piece is made of painted outer layer referring to a specific horse (oil on linen) and inner soft layer (upcycled fur or plush). The viewers are invited to touch all parts of the installation. The project was inspired by a personal relation between the artist and the horses at a stable she was visiting during covid-19 pandemic. The aim was to share some of the qualities of these interactions in times of touch deprivation and social distancing. References to Theodore Roszak and one of the foundations of ecopsychology: to recover the child's innately animistic quality of experience in functionally sane adults.
